Transformation through "Girls Education, PERIOD!”

hopeful stories from our KUEF community:
These stories transcend statistics - revealing the heart of the matter
The “Girls Education, PERIOD!” program, shaped and empowered by the personal stories of young women, is effectively removing both significant barriers to higher education unique to girls and also gender disparities.
As Nakatha, a BLISS Senior, shares, the program “creates a sense of community at the school among the female students and teachers. We can talk about menstruation without embarrassment.” By providing underwear, sanitary towels, and toilet facilities, the program not only increases school attendance but also "improves young women's self-esteem and health."
The impact is profound: “Most of us would miss school because of not affording to buy them,” explains Kanja, a BLISS Senior. “Missing school each month means we cannot succeed, so many girls quit. It is a good idea for girls.” The program has become a vital support system, helping to keep girls in school “especially now when the cost of living is much higher. I take this opportunity to give my gratitude for you.”
“Thank you for posting donations so girls can live a healthy life at school. This environment of cleanliness, providing underwear, sanitary towels and toilet facilities including washing hands and disposing of pads promotes good health. I could not continue in school without these things. Bless you for every kindness and the good things you have done.”
– Mukuba, BLISS Junior
In the past fifteen years, over one million sanitary pads were provided in five schools to over 13,000 young women. “Girls Education, PERIOD!” has significantly transformed lives, providing access to education for girls and addressing disparities in gender.
$25 provides 1 girl with underwear and sanitary pads for a year.
We anticipate supporting around 800 girls in 2026.
We request your financial support of “Girls Education, PERIOD!” to provide adequate monthly supplies and improve women’s health.
“One of the great things you have done is keep girls in school. I appreciate your concern about the girl child’s education, helping her stay in school and teaching how to take care of her private (physical) needs. The meetings you prepare for us about women’s health are so helpful."
– Wambui, BLISS Sophomore
Words from faithful donors to the program
"Spending time with BLISS students, we witnessed their determination to achieve academically. Girls doing as well as boys is impressive: historically, girls miss about 25% of class time. ‘Girls Education, Period’ addresses barriers, unique and specific to women. We appreciate that the supplies, made in Africa, are chosen for their sanitary and culturally sensitive properties. Supporting this responsible and effective program is a joy. We can't think of a more worthy cause.”
